So Why Do You Number Your Tracks

i've been often asked why a lot of the tracks i done in the past have, instead of tracktitles, "cryptic" word number combinations, such as "doomcore 14" or "rave 4". there are various reasons for this. first, it is a technique that was and is often used in avantgarde or experimental music. to assign numbers or letters to tracks, to numerate them, instead of giving them names. second, music is a special form of art in that it is often without words (well, in electronic and experimental music at least). the tracktitles are still in words, though. so by removing the tracktitles, you truly have wordless art. as a long critic of the thing we call "language", this is very useful for me.
but most importantly, i've been following a concept with my last tracks. well, not so much with the tracks i am doing in the moment (or maybe i am still), but with these tracks assigned with the word/number combination.
i wanted to create a whole world with my music and tracks. an own world. this i wanted to do by not just doing single tracks, each track as its own, but by interconnecting them with the other tracks. this is where the assignments of numbers comes into play. doomcore 1-15 are connected to each other. each follow a similiar structure, that is changed and modulated while the tracks progresses, though. so i didn't just wrote one track in a certain way, but 10 or more, basically. if you listen carefully you might notice certain ideas being used again while the number of the track progresses. not only are the tracks of "doomcore 1-15" or "rave 1-x" interconnected, but also the tracks of the different fields - there are interlinks between the doomcore, rave, techno or futuristic tracks.
this is to create a whole web of interconnected tracks.

now let's take a closer look at the various groups:

Doomcore 1-15

obviously, this is an attempt to create a doomcore sound. the tracks are almost in a "traditional" way of doomcore, with a lot of focus on the melodies and the rhythm of the percussion.
the doomcore group is a group where the interconnection and progress of the tracks is most visible, i think.
doomcore 1 starts totally minimal: just 4 channels are used, one synthline, one drumchannel, two percussion channels. just 3 chords repeated over and over again. the number of channels and complexity progress then as the number of the doomcore track rises.
doomcore 15 then is the most complex one, with a differentiated melody, 7 channels, complex percussion and song structure.

Rave 1-x

not rave in it's typical meaning, obviously. this is an attempt to create a bit of party-in-a-twisted-sense hardcore and techno, with some of the typical rave instrumentation as orch hits or sawtooth-stabs.

basically, this is very close to techno as i think it should be.
there is some crossing over to the doomcore group; tracks such as rave 11 etc. are also at the same time doomcore 11 (having an entry in both groups of tracks), this explains the missing numbers in the doomcore field of tracks.

Acid 1-x

acidcore and hardacid. this is attempt at acidcore sound. it draws from a lot of influences that i could list maybe in another text. there is no crossover to other groups afaik - well at least not one in an overt way.

Ambient 1-x

various tracks that i group as ambient. usually beatless. also an offshoot of my experimentation with sounds,
so there is a crossover to the experimental group.

Experimental 1-x

similiar to the group of ambient tracks, but even more of a focus on strange sound structures. very much interconnected with it.

Techno 1-6

connected and an offshoot of the doomcore and rave group of tracks again. but a vastly different approach to them, especially in the way of producing them. still, they are also very much interconnected to the other groups. techno 4 and 6 are special in their way.

Futuristic 1-10

basically this group came into existance with futuristic 2 (even though futuristic 1 was earlier) which i wrote in around an hour, after waking up on new years day 2013.
very long tracks, with a special production and sound. i think when listening it's clear that the futuristic tracks are connected to each other. even though again this an offshoot of the doomcore/techno/rave group they have their own sound, which i cannot easily describe though.

Opus 1-7

this started after i created opus 1. it was not a group i had intended at first. it is for tracks which i cannot produce easily or "at will", which have a somewhat "epic" feel to them. well at least i hope they have.

there are also a bunch of smaller groups like the "electronic" one, which i will not fully explain or describe here.

so, i hope this gives you a better understanding of the idea and concept behind this numbering of tracks.
